Digital Conventional Radiography (X-ray)

Conventional radiography is a widely used imaging technique based on the use of X-rays. During the examination, a device similar to a camera emits a beam of X-rays that passes through the patient’s body and exposes a radiographic film. A black-and-white image is produced on the film, allowing the radiologist to distinguish the different structures and tissues inside the body.

The radiographic image is produced because denser structures, such as bones, absorb X-rays more significantly than less dense tissues, such as the skin. This creates a contrast that appears as different shades of grey in the final radiographic image. The radiologist interprets the image to make an accurate diagnosis.

In current clinical practice, conventional radiography is often performed using digital technology. This means that the radiographic image is captured by a digital sensor rather than traditional film. This allows the image to be viewed immediately on a monitor and makes it possible to process it digitally to improve image quality or perform more advanced analyses.

Conventional radiography is performed using digital technology and can be provided on request on CD or DVD. At Corilab, computerised radiography examinations are available under the Italian National Health Service, using state-of-the-art equipment designed to ensure patient safety.
