Before having your blood sample taken, you should fast for 8–12 hours. Do not consume food, alcohol, sugary drinks or coffee during this period, as they may affect the reliability of the results. Smoking may also influence some test results, so please avoid smoking between waking up and having your blood taken. You may drink small amounts of water (one or two glasses).
DietI
In the days leading up to the blood test, continue to follow your usual diet. The purpose of the tests is to assess the levels and characteristics of substances normally present in the body. Excessive food intake or a restrictive diet may affect both the laboratory results and their clinical interpretation.
Medication
Do not stop or change any medication unless instructed by your doctor. If you are unsure whether to take your medication before the blood test, please contact your doctor or Corilab in advance.
